Panama Fishing February 12, 2020

It has been a whirlwind of activity here at Hooked on Panama Lodge.  Multiple groups coming and going, got a lot of good photos, but not from everyone. 🙁 🙁  The offshore bite has slowed, but the nearshore bite has been great.

First, Linda Bumgarner and husband Jim.  They are friends of Steve McCreary, who was here the week before. Fishing with Captain Victor. Their first day they got 6 roosters all 40+ pounds, Cuberas and mutton snapper.  After that, they raised sails with no takers and  caught several Dorado. They also rescued a turtle all tangled in fishing line. 🙂 🙂

Micky Slingerland was here with Scott, Peter and Damien. Fishing with Captain Chaka.  Got no photos from these guys, but they got Sails, Dorados and Snappers.

Next was John Crenshaw with his son Brett and friends Larry Leschper and Brian Wilson.  No, not that Brian Wilson:)  They were fishing with Captain Carlos.  John sent me a play by play commentary on the photos he sent. I don’t have to add anything, but, the moonrises were insane and the guy that looks like a terrorist, is John. 🙂 🙂 John’s play by play is in red below

Brett Crenshaw with a Cubrera Snapper weighing in close to 50 pounds. Best of the trip.

John Crenshaw and his Rooster. Can you pick out which one is John? ?

An early evening photo of the moon rise and an early morning sunrise shot, both from the lodge. The views are incredible.

Brian Wilson and Brett Crenshaw with a pair of very solid Dorado. Larry Leschper also wrestled one in the same size. The ladies in the kitchen served up some phenomenal butter glazed, grilled mahi-mahi that night.
First Mate, Eloy showing off a solid bull and cow Dorado that had taken up shelter around a large floating log.

Larry Leschper from Greenville Georgia wrestling in a solid Cubrera Snapper.

Brian Wilson from Fish River Alabama relaxing and taking it all in under the shade of a palapa.
Delicious Tuna Poke and Sashimi from Brett Crenshaw’s earlier catch.

Brett Crenshaw from Houston Texas with a small tuna, and his first Roosterfish and Cubera Snapper. John Crenshaw from Matagorda Texas with a Mullet Snapper.

The big Tunas have slowed for now, but of course, they are not normally here this time of year anyways.  Go figure. We had a lot of fun this week.  Good company once again and for off the charts.

Nearly everyone from the last month or so are setting up trips for next year, already.  So, I you want to join us, don’t wait to long before it sells out.

Life doesn’t suck 🙂 🙂

Until then, tight lines.
