We had Mark and his father Bill, Wally all from Florida along with their friend Ralph from New York fishing with Captain Oliver and Mate Carlito. It was Bill’s birthday fishing trip. The bite was a bit slower releasing 5 sailfish and raising 36 more. They also released 1 marlin and lost another and landed 2 dorado. Front Row: Bill & Mark, Back Row : Ralph & Wally
Our last groups for the season were about two weeks ago before the hammer came down in Panama and everyone else had to cancel. Before this happened, fishing was good. Sails, Dorados, quite a few big Yellow Fin Tuna and great rooster fishing. Vanessa in one of the photos below got like a 90lb. rooster.
Bienvenidos from Hooked on Panama Lodge We had Terry Baddock, Kyle Roan and wife Lynn here June 17th for 2 days of fishing and a few days of relaxing. Terry, Kyle and I worked together on Party Boats back in the 70’s and early 80’s in Freeport, Texas, before I moved on to Hawaii.
We just had Chipper and Marieta Johnson from Minnesota fishing with us. They were with Captain Victor and his mate, Jacinto. They said Victor and Jacinto were a great team.
Got Bob Linder here this week with his son in law, Joe White and friend Ken Blake. This is Bob’s 4th trip here and they fished with Captain Oliver and mate Carlito. It was another good week. They started their trip with a tour into the mountains to see the town of Vocan.
First, Mark Polewski brought down the whole Canadian gang, Ron, Len, Archie, Andy, Tom, Dan and Ted. This was Marks second trip down here with us, but it was 5 years ago. Hope they don’t wait that long to return 🙂 Then we had Ray Rogers and Family. These folks are from West Virginia and I believe our first guests from there.
Fishing has been good. The tuna bite is still on fire. On the 17th and 18th, we were part of the Great Panama Fishing Challenge. A country wide tournament put on by the Panama Marine Resource Foundation. Several of the lodge’s here were involved.
