Hi Everyone from Hooked on Panama Lodge.

The season is rapidly approaching. Our first small group arrives tomorrow for three days of fishing. But, we had friends of Rex and Connie’s staying with us this last weekend. Skipper and Karen from South Padre Island, Texas. Skipper is supposed to be one of the best fishing guides in the bay there

They did a one day charter last Sunday. The day started off slow, but ended with a bang. 6 Yellow Fin Tuna with the smallest around 100LBS. and the biggest topped out at around 200LBS. They were completely stoked after having a couple of really slow days of fishing while they were staying in Costa Rica right before coming here:) We haven’t had fresh tuna since the end of last season and I forgot just how good it is. You can’t beat it.

They did get in some hammock time, too.

I’ll have another report in a few days. Looks like the new season has started off with a bang. El Nino is over, water temps are back to normal and it should be a stellar year.

I forgot something that was supposed to be in my last report. It was the Baxter group. They got off the boat one afternoon and asked if I knew what a Turducken was. I replied of course, but why? So the story was, they had a Mahi Mahi eat a bonito bait, then a big Black Marlin ate the Mahi Mahi. They called it a Marmahinito 🙂

It has been an epic week here at Hooked on Panama Lodge. David Nelson brought down a great group of guys. 15 of them total. A little doctors conference with fishing thrown in:) 4 days the entire fleet. Multiple Marlin, big Sail numbers, a few Roosters, a few Dorados and a butt load of very large Yellow Fin Tuna.

These guys had a great week. 8 Roosters and at one point three at once on a triple hookup. Several big Cuberas. Couple of Dorados. Two nice Yellow Fin Tuna…

For the 4th of July, we threw a big BBQ in the rancho next to the beach, had a fantastic fireworks show and a great time was had by all. Only in Panama can you have a fireworks show like that right in the front yard:)
