Well, we had kind of a crazy week here at Hooked on Panama.

Three boats fishing, overlapping groups, bite was good, then completely stopped for a day then right back up again.

We had the brothers, Mike and Steve Humma, fishing with Captain Carlos and his mate Eloy. After their first two days fishing our next guys showed up. Wolfgang, the man the myth the legend and his friends Gordan and Adam, fishing with Captain Victor and his mate Jacinto. Also, John and Eloise Pound fishing with Captain Chaka and his mate Carlito.

Over all count.

2 Marlin released this week. Eloise and Gordan got them on the last day.
7 Sails between the boats, but a lot more raised and lost.
18 Dorado with several in the 50lb. range.
6 roosters with two or three at 60lbs.
One of the biggest Cubera Snappers we have seen at 80+lbs. See photo below:) Adam got this one and took him a half hour to get it up.
A variety of other snappers from 10 to 30lbs.
Several Yellow Fin Tuna between 30 and 70lbs.
And a variety of smaller stuff, jacks, snappers, etc.:):)

This is now Wolfgang’s 7th trip to the lodge, and, John and Eloise are planning for next year. The meals were awesome and the company was good, too.

Got new guys here right now and the whole fleet is fishing again. Will have a new report soon.

Richard Bagnall Report from Aug. 6 – 15

On the last day we saw a whale and it’s calf right by the boat – we actually hooked it as it swam by (in its tail no doubt) but it obviously broke the line. It allows us to say that we nearly caught a whale!

Seasons Greeting from Hooked on Panama!
We had six groups with us from December 8th through December 18th. Joe Kornwasser from Los Angeles came down solo to check our place for future family trips and killed it on the Marlin. 2 Blacks, 2 Blues, a double hook up on Sailfish and Dorados in the mix.

I forgot something that was supposed to be in my last report. It was the Baxter group. They got off the boat one afternoon and asked if I knew what a Turducken was. I replied of course, but why? So the story was, they had a Mahi Mahi eat a bonito bait, then a big Black Marlin ate the Mahi Mahi. They called it a Marmahinito 🙂

Baatar Takaev and 4 for members of his family also went out for 1 day of fishing. Baatar has been fishing and relaxing at the lodge for the last 4 years when ever his family is visiting here in Panama.

Fishing is still on at Hooked on Panama Lodge. This week we had John Hanks with Bill, Jason, Tobey and Brent. They were fishing with Captain Carlos and Captain Chaka. The Marlin bite continues. Released 5 and lost several more. 8 Sails total, but raised a ton more and lost a few. 5 Dorados and one of them was a beast.

We had Larry Searles, Richard Little, Mervin Ward and Jim Jensen down with us for 3 days of fishing. They were fishing with Captain Chaka and Mate Carlos.
