Fishing Report December 19, 2018

Greetings from Hooked on Panama Lodge!

We started of the season the first week of December with Russell and sons Leo and Nick here from Australia. They fished for three days and caught over 20 dorado, snuck in a nice sailfish, added around 8 roosters with some snapper and bluefin trevally into the mix.  They were headed for Cuba from here, Hope you guys have a great trip!

Tom Valenti and his friends Frank, John and Steve showed up mid-week.  Tom and Frank were just here in June and wanted to come back at the start of the season.  They reached the lodge at noon and went straight to the boat for a afternoon of fishing.

They released a marlin and brought back 4 dorado and some snappers for dinner.  Not bad for a half day fishing!  For the next 3 days the dorado were thick, and they had a quadruple hook up twice.  Would have liked to see a video of that, but everyone was too busy.  Tom landed 4 dorado on his fly rod (good going Tom!)  They had a variety of snapper and roosters with one rooster over 50 lbs.  We will be seeing them again next December.  Looking forward to having them back!

Right behind Tom’s group we had Bill and Susan Rose with Chuck and Karen Milling from Fort Worth for 3 days of fishing.  Bill was here for his first marlin and took care of that on the first day raising 2 marlin and releasing one.  They also released a sailfish.  The rest of the trip was a variety of snapper, bluefin trevally, spanish mackerel, and of course dorado.

The Dorado made for a great sashimi!  Fresh dorado and snapper for dinners was off the charts!

We have 2 more groups fishing right now, so stay tune for more fish stories.

Tight Lines,
Mike Peavy
